This grant is in honor of and in memory of Celia, a loving grandmother, mother, wife, mentor, and friend to many.

Celia leaves behind her daughters (Irma, Alicia, Edith, Cynthia) and sons (Walter, Mike, Gabriel) and their families. She has seventeen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. She was the soul of the family, a constant example of faith and belief that love can overcome anything. Her belief sustained her through her life and trials, including the death of her beloved husband (Liborio), son (Daniel), and daughter-in-law (Brenda).

Celia was an incredible mentor and spiritual director to many. She served her parish of St. Francis Church in Vista, CA for thirty years. She was a leader who helped establish the Spanish catechism program, ministries, and social life. She was the first Hispanic Coordinator. When she retired, three people were hired to fill her role. She continued to serve and bring people to her faith through hospital, Eucharistic, and prayer ministries.

Celia was the anchor of her family. There was always a place at the table for everyone. She was strong and fearless, which made her the source of strength for her family.
